Project Description
Landmark Architects was selected to design and to provide construction oversight for renovations of the former Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Most of the original structure was demolished to make room for a new school. The remaining section of the building, including the gym and pool, were left in place, and are being transformed into the new Middletown Recreation Center. The building will also function as a warming center, and the design includes solar panels and backup power to allow the warming center to operate if there is a power loss in the community. Renovations include reroofing, replacement of key HVAC equipment, new locker/shower upgrades, and all new finishes. Dining facilities and the new kitchen will be available for various activities, including at those times when the building is being used as a warming center.
