Project Description

This 93-room “step down hospital” concept was the biggest of its kind at the time. Its immediate access to an elevated covered walkway to the Temple Medical Center made it convenient in the event emergency care was needed. Set up as a hotel environment, with EMTs as concierges at each level, the facility was intended to give convalescing patients a more comfortable, less expensive environment for post-surgical recuperation. The project included two pools with complete filtration components, and locker, dressing and shower rooms. The three-lane 75-foot lap pool for hydrotherapy was designed to assist rehabilitation efforts. The six-foot deep 20 by 20 foot heated pool was planned for recovering patients to begin water exercises.
